Renowned and highly respected computer forensics expert leads rapidly growing forensics and incident response practice WASHINGTON – Computer security solutions developer and service provider Kyrus announced today that noted computer forensics expert Keith Jones has joined the firm to head up its growing computer forensics, incident response, and expert witness practice.
“Keith embodies the Kyrus ideal: deep expertise, a passion for the mission, and a hunger for innovation,” said Kyrus President and CEO Dan Hall. “I would be hard pressed to think of someone who is better qualified or more respected in their profession.”
Jones joins Kyrus after working over six years at a computer forensics, litigation support and e-discovery firm he co-founded.
“I appreciate the fact that Kyrus is 100% employee-owned,” said Jones. “It means I can focus on doing what’s right for customers, not trying to meet some financial goal set by an analyst or investor.”
Just as important to Keith is the company’s focus on solving hard problems and eschewing business as usual in the computer security market. “I really like the fact that Kyrus focuses on innovation and efficiency over the usual metrics that are used to measure ‘success’ in this business,” said Jones. “I knew people at Kyrus, but I didn’t know how often they were working behind the scenes solving some hard problem another company couldn’t. They really are the best company most victims of intrusions have never heard of.”
Keith has long been a leader in the computer forensics industry. An associate member of the American Bar Association, he is certified as an expert witness in several states as well as at the federal level, and serves as President of the Consortium of Digital Forensic Specialists: a standards and ethics body for computer forensics practitioners. He graduated from Michigan State University, where he earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering, as well as a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering. He is the author of Real Digital Forensics: Computer Security and Incident Response, and The Anti-Hacker Toolkit. Keith was an early member of pioneering cyber security firms Sytex and Foundstone, and was Director of Computer Forensics, Incident Response & Litigation Support at Mandiant.
